About Chris

BOARD EXPERIENCE

In addition to his work in the Legislature, Chris McKimmie serves on boards that focus on long-term community stability and opportunity.

Chris is a Board Member of the Niagara Orleans Regional Land Improvement Corporation (NORLIC), commonly known as the Land Bank. In this role, he works with local governments to acquire and return vacant and abandoned properties to productive use—strengthening neighborhoods, encouraging responsible redevelopment, and expanding future economic opportunity.

Chris also serves on the Board of Directors of the Niagara Community Action Program (NICAP), a countywide organization dedicated to reducing poverty and helping individuals and families achieve self-sufficiency. Through NICAP, Chris supports programs that provide critical services, workforce development, and assistance to residents in need.

Chris approaches board service with the same principles he brings to public office: accountability, responsible stewardship, and a focus on outcomes that benefit the broader community.

FIGHTS FOR TAXPAYERS

Chris McKimmie believes government must be accountable and live within its means. He has consistently advocated for responsible spending and for using taxpayer dollars wisely.

Chris has been a strong voice against state policies that raise costs for working families, including utility rate hikes approved by state regulators and unfunded mandates imposed on counties. He continues to stand up for local control, opposing bigger government mandates that shift costs onto taxpayers without accountability.

Law Enforcement

Chris McKimmie has served as a Niagara Falls Police Officer since 2013 and was promoted to Lieutenant and supervisor in 2022. During his career, he has held multiple specialized assignments, including the Traffic Division, Crash Management Unit, and the Emergency Response Team.

Chris has played a key role in the department’s STOP-DWI program and was the first Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) in the City of Niagara Falls, a highly specialized certification requiring extensive training and evaluation. His law enforcement experience gives him firsthand insight into public safety challenges, accountability, and the importance of practical, evidence-based decision-making.

Military Service

Chris McKimmie joined the New York Air National Guard in 2010 and has served the majority of his military career in Niagara County at the 107th Attack Wing, Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station. Throughout his service, Chris has held a range of leadership roles, including Assistant Fire Chief and Paralegal in the Judge Advocate General’s Corps.

Chris currently serves as First Sergeant, a senior enlisted leadership position responsible for advising the Commander on the morale, readiness, and welfare of enlisted airmen. In this role, he provides guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure the unit remains mission-ready and its members are taken care of.

Chris’s military service has reinforced his belief in accountability, teamwork, and leadership by example—principles he brings to his work in county government.

Volunteerism

Chris McKimmie has a long record of volunteer service in Niagara County, giving back to the community long before holding elected office.

For more than a decade, Chris served as a volunteer firefighter and EMT with the Frontier Volunteer Fire Company in the Town of Wheatfield, where he also served as President of the Board of Directors. In that role, he helped lead the organization, manage operations, and support the volunteers who protect the community.

Chris also served for over five years as a volunteer EMS provider with Tri-Community Ambulance Service, Inc., which serves the Towns of Wheatfield, Lewiston, and Cambria. During his time there, he held the leadership role of Assistant Chief, gaining firsthand experience with the staffing, funding, and operational challenges facing emergency medical services.

Chris’s volunteer experience reinforces his belief that strong communities are built by people who step up, lead, and serve when they are needed most.
