Chris is on the Board of Directors of the Niagara Orleans Regional Land Improvement Corporation, working to return vacant properties to productive use and strengthen our communities.
Chris McKimmie has earned the trust of his colleagues and the community through steady, accountable leadership. As Chairman of the Legislature’s Community Safety & Security Committee and Second Deputy Majority Leader, Chris brings real-world experience from public safety and military service to county government. He believes leadership isn’t about titles—it’s about showing up, making informed decisions, and standing up for local communities when it matters most.
Public safety is not theoretical to Chris McKimmie—it has been his life’s work.
Chris has served as a Police Officer since 2013 and currently serves as a Lieutenant and supervisor, giving him firsthand experience with crime trends, accountability, and the real-world impact of policy decisions. His law enforcement career has taught him how to listen, problem-solve, and make decisions under pressure—skills he brings directly to his work in the Legislature.
In addition to his policing career, Chris has more than a decade of experience in Firefighting and EMS service, where he served in leadership roles including President of the Board of Directors and Assistant Chief. He understands the operational, staffing, and funding challenges facing emergency services—not from reports, but from experience.
As Chairman of the Legislature’s Community Safety & Security Committee, Chris now oversees county agencies responsible for law enforcement, emergency management, probation, and public defense. He uses his professional background to ask the right questions, demand accountability, and ensure public safety resources are used effectively.
Chris believes safe communities require strong leadership, local control, and practical solutions—and he continues to advocate for policies that protect residents, support first responders, and respect taxpayers.
Economic development is one of Chris McKimmie’s top priorities because it directly impacts jobs, affordability, and neighborhood quality of life.
As a member of the Legislature’s Economic Development Committee, Chris represents one of Niagara County’s most economically diverse districts—home to the Niagara River waterfront, major retail centers, tourism and hospitality businesses, small local shops, restaurants, and manufacturing employers. Chris understands that effective economic policy must support both Main Street businesses and job-creating industry.
Chris focuses on practical, results-driven development, not bureaucracy. He helped champion Façade Program 2.0, expanding a successful matching-grant program that revitalizes commercial corridors while leveraging private investment. Through this program, Chris secured $224,887.50 in matching grants for businesses in his district, generating over $450,000 in total investment across 10 local businesses.
Chris also supports long-term redevelopment as a Board Member of the Niagara Orleans Regional Land Improvement Corporation (Land Bank), where he works to return vacant and underutilized properties to productive use—strengthening neighborhoods and expanding future economic opportunity.
In addition, Chris secured a $21,500 Niagara County Production Program grant to support local manufacturing and job retention.
Chris believes economic development should be measured in businesses growing, jobs staying local, and communities improving—and he continues to push county programs to deliver real results for taxpayers and employers.
